Hello folks,
I know you are all excited to be joining us for an afternoon of great art and music on Saturday. But alas, the show will only be running until 5:00PM. For those looking to continue their cultural feast on the 14th, I have a few recommendations. Once you have purchased your new conversation piece or showstopping centerpiece, head out for dinner, then take in one of these great events!
- Fire Exit Theatre/Hit and Myth’s Shadowlands. C. S. Lewis is perhaps most famous for his Chronicles of Narnia series of books. This play looks into some of Lewis’ more personal struggles with pain and love and faith. Find them at 7:30PM in the Engineered Air Theatre in the Arts Commons downtown.
- The Youth Singers of Calgary’s Wish Granted. The Youth Singers’ Spring Mainstage Show follows three children and their magical journey through an enchanted wood. The show is at 7:00PM at the Jubilee Auditorium
- Theatre Calgary’s The Light in the Piazza. 1950’s romance. The beauty of Italy. Family secrets. What more could you ask for from an evening at the theatre. The show starts at 8:00PM at the Max Bell Theatre in the Arts Commons.
- The Shakespeare Company’s Good Night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet). For those who are intrigued by Shakespeare but are worried about getting in over their heads with lofty language, this comedy by Canadian playwright Ann-Marie MacDonald is sure to please.
With options like these, you are sure to have an amazing day of art, music, and theatre. Take some time this weekend to delve into the human condition and reflect upon what beauty really is. You won’t regret it.
See you all on Saturday!
